GLENTURRET

HIGHLAND

Dry, floral and nutty.

This small farm distillery dates back to 1775, and is one of the great survivors of the whisky industry. Like many of Scotland's distilleries it was closed, and the workings removed back in the 1920.

Unlike most distilleries that suffer such a fate, Glenturret has been revived, and the story is a real fairy tale. Having sat dormant for almost forty years, the determination of one man, James Fairlie saw the distillery refitted and distillation commenced again in 1960.

Because of its ease of accessibility of its location near Crieff in the heart of Perthshire, the Glenturret Distillery is the most visited of any in Scotland. 200,000 visitors visit Glenturret each year, and although it is now called The Famous Grouse Experience, you can still see a beautiful distillery underneath the modern glitz.
